07 Apr Randox Health Owners and Trainers Reception
AP McCoy and Gordon Brown team up to present exclusive Randox Health Owners and Trainers Evening Reception
New Grand National sponsor Randox Health is bringing the future of equine health and wellbeing to the most notable names in the racing industry this Ladies Day, by hosting an exclusive event which highlights a preventive approach to maintaining the welfare and competition preparedness of horses.
The Randox Health Evening Reception follows on from a number of informative seminars and interactive fitness sessions being held during Randox Health Week, an educational event running in partnership with the University of Liverpool Equine Hospital, and Liverpool John Moores School of Sports and Exercise Science.
Day Two of Randox Health Week, Tuesday 4th April, will be of particular interest to racehorse owners and trainers, as it focuses on a number of key equine health issues. This includes respiratory health in horses, equine nutrition, and the monitoring of equine health and competitiveness using blood tests; the area of health in which Randox specialises.
Dr. Peter FitzGerald, Founder and Managing Director, Randox Health, commented;
“Our Owners and Trainers event is the perfect follow-on from Randox Health Week, which we are running in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and The University of Liverpool, on Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th April. Of particular interest will be our capabilities in Equine Health – which we are showcasing on Tuesday – designed to determine efficient training plans, appropriate recovery times and ultimately better performance. We are delighted that through our sponsorship of the Randox Health Grand National we can share our knowledge and expertise in this area with Owners and Trainers, to ensure their horses’ preparedness for competition, and to maintain their health and wellbeing.”
Joining Randox Health during the Owners and Trainers Evening Reception will be Racing Presenter Gordon Brown, and 20-time Champion Jockey and Randox Health Brand Ambassador, Sir AP McCoy; teaming up to present the evening’s running order. A highlight of the evening will be a talk from Padraig Kelly of the University of Liverpool’s Equine Hospital, on equine upper airway disease, poor performance in the equine athlete, and upper respiratory tract diagnostics.
Padraig Kelly, Equine Surgeon at the University of Liverpool’s Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital, explained;
“Having Randox Health as new sponsor of the Grand National is a fantastic opportunity for those of us in the racing and equine veterinary industry to collaborate in the field of equine health diagnostics, and to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of our horses. Respiratory function is critical to ensuring horses are fit and well enough to race and it gives me great pleasure to be able to speak with the owners and trainers to share our knowledge and experiences.”
Gordon Brown, Racing Presenter, commented;
“I am delighted to be working with Randox Health, whose new sponsorship of the Grand National has brought a plethora of innovative and exciting new ideas to the Sport of Kings. They remain committed to engaging with all stakeholders within the racing industry – owners, trainers, journalists, jockeys, nutritionists and veterinarians – and I’m excited to see their partnership flourish. ”
20-time Champion Jockey and Randox Health Ambassador, Sir AP McCoy, said;
“I think what’s so exciting about Randox’s sponsorship of the Grand National is that they have much share with the racing fraternity. Their message for equine health is applicable to both humans and animals and this is what makes their partnership with Aintree special. They are passionate about improving people’s health – so sponsoring The People’s Race is a great fit. ”
